Medical Education Unit
Medical Education Unit (MEU) of Southern Medical College (SMC) is working for students and future doctors to make them oriented to the needs of the community in the aspect of Medical Science. The health care system is updating all over the world and public expectation of their health care services is increasing. With the perfect and updated application of knowledge and skills, future doctors need to satisfy their patients with the changing needs of the community. The MEU of SMC is committed to promote and provide support in undergraduate and postgraduate education program and continuing professional development.

- To improve medical education by focusing on Medical students.
- Developing the academic efficiency of the teachers.
- Providing support to develop a productive working relationship between the faculties, students and academic council.
- Educate the Medical students to become efficient clinicians who have the skills and passion to improve the health of the world’s people through research, innovation, and leadership.
- Cooperate and coordinate the Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS).
- In collaboration with phase coordination committee, this unit arranges classes on medical humanities.
- In collaboration with phase coordination committee schedule of integrated teaching season
- Organize departmental seminar for academic year.
- Organized departmental complicated case presentation.
- Organize special seminar, symposium and workshop on different challenging issues and recent medical advancement.
- Observe different special days by arranging rally, seminar and symposium.
- Provide facilities to access national and international journals.
- Provide support publication of Journal of Southern Medical College Teachers Association.
- Arrange research methodology workshops for faculty members and for new post graduate trainees to improve the quality of research.
- In collaboration with Centre for Medical Education (CME), Director General of Health Services arrange training program on Teaching Methodology and Assessment.
It is the high time for MEU of SMC to ensure a world standard medical education for the medical students of SMC. We hope that the present activities of MEU in SMC will guide the students in development of their skills, and attitude which they must achieve through the learning process.
